Description: With it's strong citrus and herby aroma this oil is most widely used as an insect repellent and has been traditionally used as such before chemical insecticides were available. It is used today in many commercial insect repellents, particularly in candles. It is also used by gardeners to protect small areas from cats or unwanted animals. Like its close relative lemongrass, it can be used as a room freshener. It's strong aroma is very effective at at clearing unwanted or unpleasant odours
Directions: To use in a diffuser to dispel bad odours, add approx 8-10 drops of oil. For use in the garden, sprinkle a few drops around a small area every few days to keep cats or other animals away. To make an insect repellent mix 100ml of water with 5ml of citronella oil, you can add a few drops of lavender and melissa if you wish. For best results mix the oil with some alcohol before adding to the water. Shake vigorously before using to disperse evenly. You can spray on to clothes before going out or use as a room spray (note; this dilution is too concentrated to apply directly on the skin).
