Description: The sandalwood tree is a semi parasitic tree, a relative of the mistletoe. It is native to India, Indonesia and other pacific islands. Until recently the worlds supply of sandalwood essential oil came from India and Indonesia. Due to over harvesting this became unsustainable. Our oil comes from the worlds first major sandalwood plantation in Kununarra, Australia. The area was formerly desert and has been transformed into a forest. The first trees were harvested in 2014 and a new distillery has been set up.
Both the wood and the essential oil have a long tradition of use in production of attars and incense, in perfume, and as part of religious ceremonies. It has a calming, protective quality and can help reduce stress and fear. The essential oil makes an excellent addition to any massage blend, a few drops will give smoothness and warmth to the aroma. It is also useful in skincare and blends for the respiratory system. Used as perfume it helps calm the mind and is both meditative and sensual in character.
Directions: For use in a diffuser, as a bath or massage oil. To create a massage or bath oil dilute up to 10 drops essential oil to 10ml of carrier oil.
